Parallon Technology Solutions (PTS) continues to highlight individuals that contribute to the success of various projects in hospitals around the country. These projects play a role in the constant evolution of health systems and continuous improvements of quality care for patients through technology. Each project and the individuals contributing to them have a significant impact on the hospitals and the communities they serve. Jim Stumbaugh, a Consulting Business Analyst who is currently working on a project called “Evolve,” will be our highlighted contractor this week.
When completed, Evolve will identify, define, document and implement software development guidelines and tools used by HCA to create Pathways that will help navigate the process of delivering software to hospitals. The focus of the project is to improve central communication and collaboration, with an end goal of establishing an approved tool suite for software development and delivery. By streamlining the development and delivery process, teams will become more efficient with open channels of communication between departments and projects. With defined processes and documentation, teams can share efficiencies, knowledge and technology to minimize risks and elevate results while building relationships throughout the process.
Stumbaugh works with six team members on a variety of tasks, with a focus is on facilitation and documentation. He has nearly 20 years of experience in the healthcare IT industry, and he has learned many lessons throughout his career. One lesson that comes to mind for Stumbaugh is “that not a single person has all the answers. No matter how talented, connected, or experienced a person is, you must continue to improve on your skillsets. I approach every project the same way: I like to challenge and be challenged.”
The scope of this project is large and complex, with team members divided into six pathways: plan, design, build, test, deploy, and support. This initiative is scheduled to extend through 2019, with tremendous cooperation throughout the organization. Stumbaugh’s manager, Jim Langlois (Director of Process Improvement) speaks to his work ethic and character saying, “Jim is an asset to my department because I can assign any type of work to him and he has the toolset to accomplish the goals. He has a wide berth of knowledge and specialized skills that allow him to navigate process improvement activities in addition to his technical and business analysis skill set.”
