Get to Know the People Behind the Job: Robin True

staff augmentation

Staff augmentation is an integral part of the healthcare industry and at Parallon Technology Solutions (PTS), it is a large component of our business. We provide hospitals with a broad spectrum of expertise to meet project demand while also helping them stay on budget. We put tremendous effort into identifying, recruiting and on-boarding qualified individuals with years of experience that know how to tackle key strategic projects such as complete implementations, application migrations, upgrades and optimizations. No matter the project or task, these individuals meet each job with integrity, preparation and a passion to serve the community.

It is important to highlight the individuals that are essential to the completion of these projects and take a moment to understand their impact on the communities they serve. They are the bricks and mortar upon which each project is built as they provide a solid foundation for organizations to continue to improve and focus on delivering quality care and an excellent patient experience. Throughout the rest of this year, we will give you the opportunity to get to know some of these essential professionals and the work they deliver.

The first of these is Robin True, a Project Manager for the Operations and Service Lines Group (OSG) project at that began in November 2016 and ended on March 30, 2018. She joined the Clinical Data Access (CDA) project management team in August 2017 and took on multiple projects for OSG business customers in the Surgical Services and Cardiovascular services lines. She has also overseen efforts to bring the Surgical Symphony (OR Tracker) product from a single hospital to be hosted, supported, enhanced and utilized throughout all facilities in the health system. The OR Tracker is a web-based application designed to display the current OR data for each facility. These tracker boards are displayed in the operating room or other related areas such as waiting rooms and will reflect the current day’s patient OR data and status changes. Staff and family can see when a patient is in pre-op, surgery, recovery, when the procedure has started and ended, when anesthesia starts, etc. With minute-by-minute updates on every patient, the staff can keep up with last minute changes and expectant or anxious families experience less uncertainty and concern for their loved ones.

One of the highlights of this project was the opportunity to design a virtual boot camp for the division OR Analysts that would teach them how the OR tracker board was initially designed and how to use it during their day-to-day responsibilities. “This model of getting the information out to the people on the ground has been proven to be very effective. We are also getting great feedback for more enhancements that we can add as the product continues to mature,” Robin said. They have since set up weekly calls to continue the education for other OR analysts coming on board and will continue this model of training after the project is completed.

Saverio DiStefano, Robin’s Program Manager, was overflowing with compliments when speaking to Robin’s skill and character. He describes her footprint on the project, “For Surgical Services, Robin has led her project teams in the development and deployment of new capabilities for Scheduling Express that now allow physician offices to not only see available OR times, but make requests of open times for their procedures. This is viewed as a significant physician satisfier and operational improvement,” Saverio said. Though her skill is undeniable, her work ethic and reliability have made an impression on the team. Saverio continued, “Robin’s leadership in managing the various aspects of these work efforts has been great.  As a Sr. PM, she brings with her a level of experience about how we plan and execute work that was self-evident on all of these projects.  She was comfortable both in working with her team as well as her project leaders in helping drive work and set expectations. In addition to her project work, Robin has been a welcome part of the CDA PM team.  Her personality and overall disposition as well as her willingness to both learn from others and share her knowledge made her a great fit for our team.”

Throughout the years, Robin has been a part of many implementations and she says, “This experience helped me to ask the right questions and gather the details needed to accomplish this type of work. There are many points of governance that have to be completed and having prior experience in that space has helped me navigate through those processes.” Something Robin values on the job and in life is transparency. “Project Management principles can work in so many different areas of life. My goal is to provide excellent value to the project work, the team and the business owners. I am transparent with all parties so that they understand what is occurring at any given time. I will do anything in my power to help the team accomplish project goals.”
